Gluing your spike
Deciding whether or not to glue your spike really depends on personal preference. Many players swear by it, and others will say it’s not needed. The advantage is that it can lengthen the life of your spike by not letting it dull as quickly. This can come at a cost, as the paint on your tama will likely chip away faster due to the added strength of the spike. If you’re a player who wants a consistent tip on your Ken, then gluing your Kendama can be a great idea. Just be prepared for more impact on your tama when you miss spike tricks.
If you do choose to glue the tip, most players prefer plain old superglue and will put it on in layers with a drying time in between. After a few layers and a good drying time your glued spike should be ready to go and slay some tricks!
